1.) Stand tall – Walk with your shoulders and chin up. Meet the eyes of others around you, if only for a
few seconds. You don’t have to stare people down, but make sure they know that you saw their face.
2.) Be alert – Observe your surroundings, especially at night. Watch beneath your car as you walk
toward it, and be cautious if someone is sitting in a parked car near yours.
3.) Avoid “problem” areas – Park in well-lit locations at night. Don’t venture into potentially dangerous
or unfamiliar territory. Some banks have hedges around them in which predators can hide. Be aware for
your surroundings.
4.) Plan ahead – If you know you’re going to be in an at-risk location, especially at night, have someone go with you. Have a security guard escort you out to your car.
5.) Know your options – By law an every phone is supposed to be able to dial 911. Even an “inactive” cell phone can still dial 911.
6.) If you are in trouble, attract attention – Criminals dislike bright light and sound because it attracts attention. The more witnesses there are, the less likely a crime will take place. |

What is Creative Defense Systems?
Creative Defense Systems is my expression of the many different martial arts I have studied through the years. Our primary emphasis is on fighting with sticks, knives, and empty-hand. We focus more on students understanding the variety of options and opportunities presented in the fight. CDS is totally none esoteric in its approach to martial arts. In other words CDS is truly NO HOLDS or WEAPONS BARRED. We are agents of peace. We do not start wars. We do not seek confrontations, however; if forced into battle we intend to win.
There is a scientific approach to our training modules. Our aim is to prepare students to deal with those moments of chaos. Below is a short list of the various disciplines’ within CDS’ graduated training modules.
Single Stick = "Solo Baston"
Double Stick = "Double Baston"
Single Knife = "Daga"
Double Knife = "Double Daga"
Long Sword = "Espada"
Sword and Knife = "Espada y Daga"
**Empty Hand Fighting = Joint manipulations, bone breaking, sealing the breath, sealing blood, and pressure points.
**Free flow training=becoming one with your weapon and understanding yourself.
LET IT BE KNOWN that CDS respects those who have taught us through the years. We will never burn bridges because those bridges represent where we are today.
